Millwork Commons is the warehouse district north of NoDo, where brick mill buildings became kitchens, offices, and small manufacturers. Nicholas Street and Millwork Avenue are the two spines.
Dolomiti, Heirloom Fine Foods, and All in Thyme sit in that core. Bobo's Noodles is the south edge, just before the street becomes the Slowdown block. The buildings are the scenery. The food is the reason to stay.
It is a short walk through a long history of reuse.
The blocks around 12th and Nicholas were once part of Omaha's industrial millwork and warehouse district, home to lumber and building-supply businesses serving the growing city. In recent years the area was redeveloped into Millwork Commons, restoring historic brick warehouses like the Ashton building into offices, tech workspaces, and gathering spots. The district blends preserved industrial architecture with new construction, and sits near the Kiewit Luminarium science center on the riverfront. It has become one of Omaha's most visible adaptive-reuse and creative-district projects.
